SECOND PLACE

Bits of things that pop into this mind.

Before her it was me.

We were everything.

You’d do anything to see me happy.

Say sweet words to hear me laughing.

In the end you played me.

Had me believing all kinds of crazy stories.

Second place is not for me.

A better prize awaits me.

Love a 100 word challenge – picture prompt

I stare at the teddy’s arm, discarded on the floor, like it meant nothing, like it was a nobody, the fur discoloured from when I used to suck on when I slept.

Your lifeless eyes stare at me but I feel no sadness, no sympathy. You made me do it, your life source strewn out on my bedroom floor, making the place untidy. I’m shaking with anger, tapping my finger and thumb, which was supposed to help to calm me. Nothing could undo this. Not now. I stare the vacuous body at my feet. “You shouldn’t have broken my teddy’s arm.”

On and on and on

Exposed Emotions

I’m tired when you come home
smacking walls,
take my hand, run my fingers
upon you everywhere,
and blossom layer by layer.
Take me with you
on a journey to the hidden world
inside your heart.
Let me feel the widening cracks
of your rigid interior,
and smilingly cry
at our helplessness.
I’m tired when you smash
the jars of our jaded reality
upon my face,
and admire me bleed and staple
our open wounds.
Help me understand you
a tad bit better,
and understand me
a little more than before.
Promise that you’ve changed,
that this time
you’re here to stay.
I’m tired
that first you do this with conviction,
but then disappear
without a hint.

Tips for Writers: A Cure for Writer’s Block

Mitch Teemley

Presentation1
One possible cure. Preferable cure below.

There are two definitions for block: 1) an obstacle to be avoided; 2) a material to be used (as in construction). The cure for Writers Block (and its evil twin, Trouble Getting Started) is to abandon #1 and embrace #2. But before we can do that, we need to understand what writer’s block is and is not:

It’s not about being unable towrite. Professional writers–who do not have the luxury of waiting for inspiration–know that being unable to write (short of a serious medical condition such as a coma*) doesn’t really happen. Why? Because writing is simply putting thoughts into words. If you have thoughts, you can write.

The real fearis being unable to write well, which amounts to the fear of not being able to write a great first draft.

Writers who believe in great first drafts are…

Minha Escolha

Refúgio dos Moinhos

Minha escolha

Eu tentei cuidar
Da parte que não me cabe
Eu tentei ser
Muito mais do que devia
Ah! eu perdi tanto tempo
Esperando que tudo mudasse
Eu empreguei minhas forças
Em algo que só existiu
Na minha cabeça
Ah! Eu de fato me perdi
Talvez a dor seja só uma questão de escolha
E eu tenha escolhido sofrer
Talvez o meu destino fosse outro
Mas eu quis me perder.
